The formula worked – it smelled incredible, it was stringy and profound orangey-red in shading – everything was available with the exception of the taste. It had a sweet taste, which I truly didn't care for. I lean toward pulled pork to have some sweetness, yet more a smoky, fiery, roasted flavor. It required me a long investment to understand that my mistake was purchasing canned jackfruit in syrup and not the one pressed in water.

Jackfruit develops on trees and is oval molded. The jackfruit is local to Thailand, India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. They have a thick and thorny green skin. At the point when the jackfruit is opened, you will locate the round natural product contained in 'pockets' in a stringy inside. The substance is light yellow and tastes sweet and has a sweet scent.

As of late, needing to attempt pulled pork once more, I figured out how to discover jackfruit canned in water as opposed to syrup. The thing that matters was astounding! My desires were fulfilled. For those of you who have not attempted a veggie lover rendition of pulled pork, I urge you to do as such. It's more beneficial, amazingly simple on the wallet, and in the event that you don't state anything, your family or potentially visitors may never know the distinction. Gracious, and there's one other thing… veggie lover pulled pork takes a little ways through and through.

Ingredients :
  • 40 ounces canned jackfruit, packed in water, drained
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder, adjust for desired heat
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup bbq sauce, see notes

Instructions :
  1. Begin by draining the jackfruit and rinsing well under cold water. Using your fingers, massage the jackfruit and break the pieces apart; set aside
  2. In a large sauté pan, heat the olive oil, add the onion and jackfruit; sauté until the onion is slightly caramelized
  3. Add the remaining ingredients with the exception of the bbq sauce.  Continue to sauté over medium heat for 10-15 minutes. Stir often because brown sugar will burn easily.
  4. Once cooked, use a fork to press the remaining larger pieces of jackfruit so that the pieces fall apart and resemble the fibers of cooked pork.
  5. Add one cup of your favourite bbq sauce and stir into the pork.  Continue to cook until sauce is heated through.
